How pumped are you to be playing a show at The Gorge Amphitheater? Is this your first time there as a performer?

I actually never been to The Gorge so this event is a win-win for me. I'm excited to experience this unbelievable venue not only as a performer but also as a member of the audience. The Gorge is one of the best venues in North America so it really hasn’t hit me yet, I think it will start to sink in when I get there. We are going to be recording the whole experience for my fans so make sure you check out my site for videos!

What is your favorite part about performing at festivals?

The energy at festivals is unbelievable. Performing in front of thousands of people is a whole different experience, and a whole different level of energy. Another reason I love playing festivals is that I get to push the boundaries a little bit more and experiment with my song selection. It's a great place to test tracks because usually the people at festivals are there to hear NEW music and more open-minded about the entire experience. It’s a fun challenge because the sets times are usually shorter and it forces me to quick mix and get in as many good tracks as possible.

Which Artist’s are you excited to see?

Definitely Above & Beyond, its been a while since I’ve seen them live and they always put on an epic performance. Michael Woods is also someone who I really respect, the guy is a remix master. I’ve been a fan for a long time and I play a lot of his tracks in my sets but I’ve never seen him live so im really excited for that.

Have you been preparing a special set for the fans? What can the fans expect?

Fans can expect face melting vocal euphoria, haha. I’ve made a couple of cool/special edits, but I never really prepare a whole set. I come in armed with my tunes and feel it from there. The crowds reaction is what dictates my song selection, I really just try to lose my self in the moment, so I never pre-plan my sets.

What’s your preferred set up in the booth?

I bounce around between Serato and Pioneers. I really prefer Pinoneer CDJ 2000's for festivals and bigger shows, preferably 3 CDJ 2000’s with the DJM-900 nexus mixer. Having 3 CDJ's gives me a lot more choices to drop in samples, have an extra track lined up, or even just for generating ideas. It definitely helps a lot more for big festival quick mixes too.

Are you going to ride any of the rides?

Ya! I can't wait to get on the ferris wheel and check out the whole scene from above. USC Events is really taking this festival to the next level by bringing in all of the free rides.

Recently there was an article about you in the UW Daily that mentioned you were born in Poland. How do you think your childhood roots in Dance music and your exposure to alternative music scene in Seattle have influenced you as an artist?

I think it has led me to prefer the more melodic side of EDM. People that are just entering the scene seems to be into the harder stuff, but I still stray towards the melodic side. I always try to break away from the mold. I know there is stuff people want to hear when they're at a show, so I take it as my job to make those songs different, mash them up, make it interesting, and take the performance to the next level.

We heard you’ve just recently opened your own studio, when can we expect to hear some more original tracks from Kryspin?

I love not having to deal with noise complaints! I've had a crazy gig schedule the past couple of months so I'm hoping that as I July rolls around I'll have more time to get into the studio and get some original tracks finished. I've also been working on an Only The Beat podcast that will be launching later this summer so keep an eye out for that!

Do you have any plans to tour the west coast?

I'm working on putting together a tour that will take place this fall and consist of colleges up and down the West Coast, hitting all of the school in Washington then down through Oregon and Northern California. That’s been a hot bed for a lot of my fans, and I give them credit for revolutionizing the EDM party scene up and down the coast so I want to give them more to party about!

Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us Kryspin, we're looking forward to your set at Paradiso!

Thanks guys! I can't wait to see everyone there :)

Dantes May2012 960x335

Friday night April 20th 2012, University of Washington students ditched their habitual watering holes and came together over their love for Electronic Dance Music, packing the dance floor at Dante’s to witness Kryspin on the decks for USC Events first Conscious Night party. Joined by his fellow USC Events Resident DJ’s, Kryspin stirred the crowd into a frenzy with his high-energy performance and skillful track selection. Check out the video produced by Dapper films below and see how it went down at Dante’s for yourself.

The 21+ no cover event hit capacity and will no doubt be as equally epic at the next Conscious Night event taking place on Thursday May 24. As Kryspin continues to melodically drive dance floors across the Pacific Northwest, the only thing bigger than opening for Benny Benassi at DayGlow (May 19th) will be taking the Stage at Paradiso Festival this summer along side the likes of Avicii, Afrojack, Above & Beyond, and many more.

Conscious Night is an EDM themed College oriented series of parties held by USC Events at Dante’s in Seattle.
